Šain – Marelić Winery Pošip – Export is located in the village of Čara, the home town of the top quality white wine – pošip. Pošip is one of the first white wines protected under Croatian law.
Šain – Marelić Winery lies in a stone house which once was a country house for the aristocrats. The winery is most famous for its pošip “Sv. Ivan”.
Pošip “Sv. Ivan” comes from the indigenous grape pošip who comes from two distinct areas in the village of Čara named Barče and Kale.
Pošip “Sv. Ivan” is dry white wine, golden-yellow colored and of unique taste.
The tasting area of the Šain – Marelić Winery is very impressive, with a spacious terrace and the breathtaking view of the fields of Čara and the Adriatic sea. On the terrace is located the statue of Sv. Ivan which the wine got its name from.
The wine is best served cooled at 12°C with fish, shrimps and sea crabs. Pošip Sv. Ivan also suits well with fine white meat dishes.
